PARSEC: NASA Mars Ice Challenge 2021
In this project I lead the Electrical and Software teams to design PARSEC: The Percussive And Rotary Surveying & Extracting Carousel. PARSEC was developed to overcome one of the largest obstacles in Martian and lunar colonization: in-situ water extraction. It can expose, melt, extract, and filter subsurface ice, while providing geological insight. The system was developed within the design objectives and constraints set by NASA’s 2020-21 RASC-AL Moon to Mars Ice and Prospecting Challenge, and ultimately won 2nd place overall.
